Mattia Vezzola reserves his 'Grande Annata' line for masterful interpretations of only the greatest vintages of his acclaimed 'bollicine' (or sparkling wines). Produced using the classic method from 80% Chardonnay, ripened to perfection on the oldest outer moraines aged over 30 years, exposed south and south-east, plus 20% Pinot Noir exposed south and south-west. This 2015 vintage achieved an unusual goal: a combination of speed and energy of Pinot Noir with the elegance of Chardonnay. The harvest was completed, as always, strictly by hand and was one of extreme harmony and excellent quality. It has a light pearl colour, extra fine and discreet bubbles that fully satisfy even the most discerning palate thanks to the 2nd fermentation and 8-month refinement of 50% of the musts in small white oak. Total refinement is 54-60 months resulting in a well-distributed density of delicate bubbles, a bouquet of extra-ripe red fruit and wild peach plus notes of citrus and flowers. Its flavour is elegant and full, a sublime marriage of structure and liveliness and the perfect expression of best quality sparkling rosé. Best paired with raw fish dishes, shellfish, caviar or squid stews, as well as lightly flavoured white meat dishes.
